About Us

Michael Yeager, Principal

Michael Yeager is the founder of Border Pathways, a law firm offering a full range of immigration solutions to individuals and companies in the Washington metropolitan area. He has more than 25 years of experience in the field of immigration law, policy, and enforcement.

From 2009 to 2017, he served in the senior leadership of U.S. Customs and Border Protection as an Assistant Commissioner.  With more than 60,000 employees, CBP is the largest law enforcement agency in the United States and is the component within the Department of Homeland Security responsible for managing the nation’s air, land, and sea borders and the facilitation of lawful trade and travel. 

From 2005 to 2009, Yeager practiced law in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. As a member of an immigration and nationality law practice, he represented hundreds of individuals and employers before federal courts and government agencies.  

Before entering private law practice, Yeager served in several different positions in the federal government. From 1997 to 2005, he worked for Rep. Henry A. Waxman as Minority Deputy Chief Counsel for the House Committee on Government Reform and Oversight. In that position, he assisted Rep. Waxman and other committee members with investigations and oversight of executive branch agencies and the White House. He also worked extensively on development and oversight of the National Drug Control Strategy and authorization of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. 

Prior to his service with the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, Yeager served as a law clerk to Judge James Robertson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and as legislative director to Rep. Wayne Owens.  

A native of the Washington, D.C. area, Yeager earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history at Bates College. He is an honors graduate of the University of Maryland Law School and served as an editor of the Maryland Law Review. He is admitted to the bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Stuart Yeager, Of Counsel

Stuart Yeager has been practicing immigration law for more than three decades and has extensive experience in family- and employment-based immigration benefits and litigation before the U.S. Immigration Courts. A principal in his own practice in Rockville, Maryland, he graduated with honors from Grinnell College and earned distinction as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Mortar Board. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University and is admitted to the bars of Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.
